The Tokyo Summer Paralympics is around the corner, and it will have the best and most complete TV coverage in the Paralympics history.
According to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), a total number of 21 disciplines from 19 sports will be broadcasted live from the Tokyo Paralympics. That's nine disciplines and seven sports more than the Rio 2016 Paralympics. Canoe, equestrian, rowing as well as part of the archery and shooting competitions will even be broadcasted live for the first time at a Paralympics.
In Switzerland, Paralympics was first broadcasted live by Swiss Radio and Television SRF in 2016, where the event took place in Rio de Janeiro. This time SRF will extend its live coverage including live broadcasts of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tokyo Paralympics. They will also have a daily 30-minute TV magazine called "Para-Graf 2020" from August 24 – the commencement day of the Tokyo Paralympics. The show will be presented by Jahn Graf, an experienced YouTuber who is spastically paralyzed since birth. It will focus on the performances, emotions and reactions of Swiss para-athletes with interviews and stories of the athletes and guests from different sectors.
In the UK, they also make a new record of broadcasting Tokyo Paralympics. Channel 4, the British public-service television network, is famous for its "We're The Superhumans" campaign for the previous Rio Paralympics in 2016. It has announced that more than 70% of their presenters for the Paralympics will have a disability. This is the largest number of presenters with disabilities in the UK television history.
